This sounds so great in theory, but we all know it'll just get abused to help 'skilled' players grind out looms or something.

Leech in battle server -> get kdr of 0:50 -> join noob server at level ~25 -> crush peasants all day errday -> get to level 34/35 by the time your kdr is positive -> rinse/repeat

I think that would be difficult. A server with no looms, no high levels, same exp gain and possibly slower combat would deter the skilled players from doing this.

As for the method you suggest, you can only die once per round in battle. Lowering kdr would be very slow, and you'd likely have a bad multi. Then in noob server to guarantee multi you'd need to get several kills each life and carry, increasing kdr fast. You'd be able to spend much less time with high multi than you'd spend leeching in battle. Mathematically in the course of a day (or however long this would take), would that really be better than just trying to win in battle the whole time?

Then this is admins' job to ban such players from the noob server, even permanently if that's what it takes. With such small community, you'll know a pro when you see one. Sure, there would be some drama if someone gets banned for abusing the noobs, but this forum likes drama, no?

There are a fair amount of downloads from MODDB daily when it is kept updated with good screenshots of the mod. Sometimes 20-40 new downloads a day.

Unfortunately we have no substantial posts to make to the page as there are never any patches to the game. Posts about patches with interesting additions/changes to the game could bring in a lot of new players.

Just personal opinion, I don't know if we have enough active admins to be looking out for players that are 'too good' on a noob server. Nor necessarily should we be stopping players like that.

I do believe that keeping the exp gain normal and preventing looms + high level builds would be enough to protect from hardcore grinders who'd seek to farm the new players. If that's still a concern maybe even have the exp gain marginally lower than EU1 if that's a concern, not enough to be a huge difference but enough to make a min-maxer want to play the harder server.

And if, on a level playing field with potentially slower combat you still get beaten by a much better player, at least there are far fewer other things to blame in that situation. People shouldn't be completely sheltered from better players, that is after all how they'll get better. Just imo.

Force noobs to play DTV until they don't suck.

PROBLEM SOLVED

Fuck that. If I was a noob joining cRPG and I saw those retarded bots just running into walls all day and nerds just holding S with upswing I would demand my money back for this free mod. DTV is awful and should be abolished.

Didn't read the whole thread.

What about locking first(maybe first to second, etc) gen players to a beginner's server.

What if old players would recieve random quests for gold/loomies/special items/xp/or whatever is selled by game on the auctions page, to train some amount of peasants new players? Something like 'Academy' serbur with quests.
I think, it would be great, but I can't see how that can be realized and checked. But I like the idea of active participating of old players in training new ones.

Not to mention somehow full invasion still remains decently populated to this day afaik. At least with dtv you get easy xp to put towards your persistent character that you can then take to a 'real' server for some pvp action.

I played full invasion for the first time last week and I was pretty impressed with some of the maps and character builds. Plus you actually have to be killing bots in order to get gold to upgrade your gear or restock on ammo and I think that is a great idea.

I think the open field maps of dtv are kind of lame but a siege type of map with breakable doors and gates where you can sally out to hold the walls and archers can shoot down or you can hold the walls of a castle. To me that would make the game more interesting.

I agree we could use more maps like that. There are really only a couple DTV maps with decent chokepoints to hold.

It's funny that you mention that as the smaller, more confined "siege" dtv maps are by far the more hated in the dtv rotation. There are a few people who like gates and tiny chokepoints, but those people are primarily in it for the massive xp those maps provide. I for one can't really understand how people would rather stand still and spam overhead swings when they could instead be running around and spamming overhead swings... at least one of those requires a tad more skill as you gotta aim your skeying so that you don't back into a wall.  Imo the best dtv maps are actually most of the native villages, as they allow for multiple routes for the AI to take (or be kiting along), and archers can stand on rooftops and such to fire down upon the hordes (not as safe as it may sound since the AI has better aimbots than players do). Also, the AI pathing is far less noticeably shitty in an open map, whereas bots repeatedly try and walk off walls or into walls in the castle maps.

I'm talking about a big ass castle type of deal here. Not some weak small tight shit. I'm at work but later I can try to find some examples of what I mean. Everyone also has their own opinion though.

I think fixing the map voting option would be a good idea as well so that way people aren't stuck on bad maps without a way to change it.
