Just reset strat and and buff the price for plate or remove it because tincans fights are for 14-17th century

Never thought I'd agree with Arthur, but I think battles without 90% of players being tincans are more fun. Someone suggested increasing plate difficulty, but I guess it could be too drastic because it'd affect non-strat players too.

give them that one month to sort out last bugs,  a smooth start is the best way to keep it alive


PS:  considering plate:  price buff only helps highly organized or bigger clans to rule,  not a fan.

Increasing difficult to 24 is reasonable or? And well Torben, I think buffing the price of plate by 200% or something would do or?

Yeah it would do, If you are talking about killing the game even faster.
I wanted an avatar as cool as the Nords ones, but I have no skill with Photoshop, or Illustrator or anything like that >:(

If you make plate harder to get or use you need to buff xp gained from using lower tier gear in strat. Otherwise you really will kill the game.

How is making battles more fun killing the game?

Arns battle showed that plate isnt necessary - his army did great with nomad gear

- Cities sell 'heavy' armour?
- Plate armour is not sold, annoying-ass crafting only! Only X amount is produced per hour/day, +3 is produced slowest, -1 is produced fastest. Maybe you need special 'goods' on your person too, just to make it even more of a faff. Hey, maybe it even costs silver, like stupid amounts of silver. Still worried people might make whole plate armies? Ok, I'll go one step further. Maybe you can only craft it in cities, with special goods that can only be purchased in villages? Still too attractive? Plate armour upkeep on Strategus map, it breaks... constantly.
- Buff Exp gain

If we can decide exactly how much we want to nerf plate, we can get really inventive imo rather than just inflating costs. Since nerds will still want to grind for their plate armies if it's just the same but costs more, then complain that it takes longer to build an army. Everyone wants to minmax.

Was one of the most fun battles for me, and not a single plate used.


Maybe a novel solution but:
- Fiefs all sell peasant gear and medium armour and all weapons, just like now, but not plate.
- Cities sell 'heavy' armour?
- Plate armour is not sold, annoying-ass crafting only! Only X amount is produced per hour/day, +3 is produced slowest, -1 is produced fastest. Maybe you need special 'goods' on your person too just to make it even more of a faff. Hey, maybe it even costs silver, like stupid amounts of silver.

I missed the Strategus rounds with crafting. How did it work before and does that code survive?

I understand people hated it? That's why I considered we use it for Plate xD

Also we probably need to determine what exact armour values/ranges are considered 'plate' these days.

Other more straightforward and brutal solution.

"Snip" no more Plate gear available anywhere until we work out how to implement it.

IMO, as long as it exists, at any price no matter how high we set it. The meta will simply grind until it gets there again, to 100% plate armies. Remove the temptation by removing the gear. Re-add it if and when there's the time to do something clever to balance it.

I remember super heavy plate armor had like 27 STR requirement for a very short period of time when Dupre was still around, but the cry was too loud so it got reverted.
End time strategus was always just tincans running around, the advantage if you can afford these is clearly there, #yetnofun

I like the idea of changing what types of gear are available in fiefs. Taking it a step further, what if it was possible to limit the type of gear available based on it's geographic map location or have certain gear start off the round already discounted?

For example: middle eastern style weapons and armor would only be available or start out discounted in the desert, nordic gear only available in the northern areas, heavy armor cheaper near mountains, cheaper horses in the steppe, etc.  It might add to both roleplay and strategic choices factions would have to make.
