cRPG Technical problems / Instability on NA servers

I've had a very unstable connection to the NA servers for a couple weeks now.  I'm having constant issues like...

  • Rubber-banding.
  • Unstable ping bouncing anywhere between normal (45-50) and 130 several times per minute.
  • Mouse button presses/releases get lost resulting in blocks not happening or swings being held indefinitely until I click M1 again.
  • Attacks phase right through targets at point-blank range.
  • Opponents will walk through me or I'll walk through them without either of us having just been hit.

I do not have these problems on the EU servers so it's not something generally wrong with my local connection.  The last time something like this happened it was due to a change in the ports used by the servers but I've triple-checked my QoS settings and they are in order.  So I'm kinda at a loss as to what the hell is going on.   Were the servers moved recently?  Anyone else dealing with this bullshit?  Anyone have any ideas?  It's pretty damn unplayable at this point.

Here's a list of primarily small things that have bugged me in one way or another since I started playing again.  They are mostly suggestions but a couple could be bugs.

  • Noble Dagger:  Please add the noble dagger to the quickdraw list.
  • Palfrey:  The texture for the palfrey does not appear to align correctly resulting in the eyes being located on top of the horses head.
  • Large Throwing Weapons: Larger thrown weapons such as lances, spears and jarids seem like they should not "stick" to the bodies of players that are still alive.
  • Guisarme:  This weapon appears to fit the length requirements for being sheathable but currently is not.  I'd probably use it more often if I didn't drop it every time I reflexively hit the sheath button.
  • Missile Headshot Bonus:  iirc missile weapons have a special headshot multiplier that is either higher than the melee multiplier or is in addition to that multiplier.  I honestly don't think that they need it.
  • Shield on Back Blocks Missiles:  See Jona's thread for more detail on this.
  • DTV Gear Box:  Is there anyway to make this indestructible without harming Strategus?  The bots seem to be incapable of actively targeting it so it is only ever destroyed by trolls.  It's not that big of a deal now that DTV is shorter but still...
  • Shared Inventory:  It would be really convenient if I could put my most commonly used gear into a special inventory that is accessible by all of my characters simultaneously.  It's a pain to have to transfer gear whenever I feel the desire to play a different alt.  This one would probably be pretty tough to implement so I won't feel bad if noone wants to work on this.
  • Armor Sanity Check:  There are a number of body/head armor pieces that have odd stats.  Like the new Footman's/Archer's sallets; which are basically the same as the "Open Sallet" but with a cloth coif; yet have significantly lower armor values.  This is another one that would probably be a big pain in the ass to accomplish.
  • Two-handed Nudge:  Please make it so that you can start this nudge from held overhead/left/right swing positions rather than just overhead.

Suggestions Corner / Credit for nudge-related gravity kills.

If you kick someone off a ledge and the fall kills them you get credit for the kill.  Nudges, however, do not currently work this way.  I think nudges should work the same way as kicks in regards to gravity-kill credit.

Suggestions Corner / Unlimited free respecs for non-heroes

Currently we have a free respec cool-down of exactly seven days for non-heroes.  I don't see any reason to have this lengthy cool-down anymore.  It still takes a week to change your hero either way so it wouldn't adversely affect strat to allow for unlimited respecs of non-heroes.  It would however make the game more enjoyable for people like me who get bored of builds/weapon classes very rapidly.  I've been spending more time on my STF than my main lately and honestly it's been a drain on my desire to continue playing.

Suggestions Corner / Purchasable heirloom exchanges

Since the marketplace is virtually dead how about we do something like purchasable heirloom exchanges?  Heirloom exchanges just like we all got with the patch of destiny but at a cost of something like 50k gold each? 

If you're old enough to remember X-Wing and Tie-Fighter then you may be interested in this.  It's a project in the same vein as the aforementioned games led by David Wessman, the designer behind said games.  Right now it doesn't seem like the funding is rolling in but there is potential yet for something decent to come out of this.

cRPG Technical problems / NA7 could probably use a restart

For at least three days now I've been experiencing very noticeable lag in hit-registration on NA7.  My connection has not been particularly horrible during that period so I'm guessing that a need for a restart is the issue.

I don't like the idea of giving RPS clicks but this list is undeniably useful right now.

Not much to say really.  I don't see the point in keeping the seven day cool-down on free respecs.  Some of us would probably play more than two or three days a week if we could respec more often.

A few people over the past two days have asked me about the weapon I've been using (katzbalger).  I figured it would be easier to make a post here rather than repeat how to fix it every time someone asks over the next week.

The problem is that the resource file it comes from wasn't added to the module.ini.  To fix this, add...

load_mod_resource = a new line to the module.ini.  I don't think it matters where you put it but you may as well put it with the rest of the item resources.  (Right below tak_armors for example.)  This will fix the appearance of both the katzbalger and the kriegsmesser.

What horse, no lighter than barded, do the horse-scum out there recommend for 2h fun times?

I was thinking barded but I do like the appearance of the cataphract.  I've never used anything heavier than steppe however.  Very minimal experience to be honest.
