Valid point. Though in all my years wandering about the forest I've never stumbled on a bear.

You need to get out more, or something. There are plenty of sightings down here in my small section of murica (CT), they've even been spotted on the trails I frequent. Just last fall my brother invited me to go mountain biking with him one day, I declined as I was busy, and he ran into a bear. I coulda seen a mofuckin bear damnit! Around here that's like a badge of courage.

This is where we don't see things the same. For us it was clear we just wanted to get the garbage village battles that would take about 2 minutes anyway out of the way. On EU people usually don't reinforce a village so those are not real battles anyway and we assumed this would be the case on NA as well. We had one battle in a village during decent time for NA and it made zero difference. We lost nothing taking it:

http://c-rpg.net/?page=strategusbattlesarchive#!?page=strategusinfobattledetail&id=309

Why should battles like these be pushed to good times when we can have the actual big battles at these times? The window where EU and NA can both fight is very small, that battle was 2:40AM for me...

Well, idk what you guys do in EU, but some of NAs best battles have been fought in villages. Village battles are arguably the best since the defenders barely have an advantage*, and fighting in a village provides a little more excitement than just running at each other in a wide open field. You use the fact that the villages were poorly-geared as your excuse for taking them at shitty times (a fact which you couldn't have known prior to attacking anyways), and yet in the one battle you linked it shows decent enough roster sizes, with the main factor in the battle ending so quickly being that you guys had MORE mercs. Maybe if you didn't repeatedly steal villages at shitty times you'd have maintained roster superiority and allowed us to have some real battles. Needless to say if you hadn't sniped all of the "shitty villages" at shitty times then the defending faction(s) could have reinforced with gear and troops to prevent you from taking them, putting up a good fight and giving us some good battles in the meantime. You're still just looking for excuses to claim EU superiority even in the face of crushing defeat.

*map-dependent, of course

Well sorry Mr. Smartypants, wasn't expecting to run into a dinosaur know-it-all on the crpg forums (other than my main man Bronto, for obvious reasons). But I stand by my statement, velociraptors did indeed have the large claw, they're just not as big as portrayed in jurassic park (doesn't mean the cassowary can't be a relative of the velociraptor, and therefore the deinonychus).

Turns out the at most 20 guys left on EU on a dead strat cant be arsed carrying on trying to get some battles on NA when all battles early hours or early morning with crap ping and outnumbered heavily.

If anyone thinks that proves anything they must be really struggling for things to feel good about.

Yeah, how DARE the NA scrubs sign against the guys taking their feifs at noon on a workday? The GALL of some players... so UNGRATEFUL for these free battles being provided.

So has it been confirmed yet that these things are direct descendants of velociraptors?

Not that I'd willingly mess with those things, but I kinda doubt that this thing could sever an arm.

It'd definitely leave quite a nasty gash or puncture wound, but unless the underside of that nail has been filed down to rival the sharpness of a katana blade folded 1,000 times, I dunno about it's reported ability to sever limbs with ease.

Maybe we'll live to see a reminder in our own cities of why Chemical Weapons were banned in the first place.

"See? Chemical weapons aren't so bad... supposedly all of Finland is covered with a cloud of Chlorine gas, so no one can go outdoors anymore. But hey, I haven't noticed any difference." - Xant, 2020

I wonder, did NA ever invade EU?

NA has had a stronghold on your half of the continent for ages, known as the village of Fisdnar. It was only recently that our peasants ambassadors decided against the continued invasion and were content with owning a similarly-named village on the NA side of the border.

Also, why leave NA to invade EU when NA strat is simply better? There's a reason there is a history of EU's coming to NA each strat and not vice versa.

You're always welcome to come be a bandit on our half the continent. I'm sure I could get some HoC soldiers to merc for yah (unless you're attacking us, of course).

Diplomacy / Re: It is once again the eu at the time is rebellious!
« on: April 15, 2018, 03:49:47 AM »
I was implying that NA has more player-owned towns and castles because nobody was making a concerted effort to sign for defense on land-grab sieges until Occitan appeared from the ether, and that those "harder-to-capture" fiefs aren't all that hard to capture when you have most NA strat players willing to sign for you or at least not sign against you. The further implication there is that we don't actually shun carebear alliances.

Yeah, there are plenty of "why even bother?" siege "defenses," ain't gonna lie. But we still got some large fights here and there, so it isn't like it's actually dead. And we had NA-based drama with wars brewing before EU came and potentially put a stopper to NA v. NA battles for the time being.

While we have had large alliances in the past (FCC, CC, Gobblins, VE, chadzian Empire, etc.), none of them (except gobbs, maybe) had ever individually been such a large percentage of the population as UIF and this new EU faction are. Back when we had mega-NA alliances there were always enough players on the opposing side to make things interesting. EU's strat has been entirely run by one faction for the past several iterations of strat. So sure, we've had NA shitposters call some of our factions "carebear alliances," but EU's has always put ours to shame, namely since ours were carebear alliances in name alone, and only called such in diplomacy threads started by the opposition. The key difference being that we had opposition that could even put up a fight, while EU never really did, and anyone not in the carebear alliance was left to fight over the scraps of the map they didn't bother ruling over.
