Masaoki, tragic hero of being both a hoarder and mentally instable

I discovered him via a reaction video of dopefish (some dude who smokes weed and plays video games). In this video you get a good handful of how mentally off this dude is.
Expect to be entertained:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZlY5Eb1P6_I

He disappeared for a while from the web and people became worried, but somebody found his new channel. He's still quite a mess, but he is struggling to do better. At least he has obtained a bit of cooking skills now. Still doesn't explain why he throws full packages of rat poison into his house to get rid of rats(?). One can just wonder how his logic works. I mean once he tried to cook an egg and thought that the egg shell is the egg white.

here's an archive of his older videos, its both entertaining and kinda sad, pretty much like watching a person trying to walk up an escalator that moves downwards
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGUXr4b1Q-JGGqTC5JDOVwA

the best part of masaokis was how it was "revealed" that he was "just making videos for fun" and slumming it up for the camera in a second property that he owned. But dude, you are still hoarding things in a house with the foundation beams held up by literal garbage and burning holes in the linoleum that you own. No matter what way you frame it that man is ill in the brain zone.

Here, have a channel best summarized as "Meth Neighbor"

alantutorial was amazing when it was fresh. His antics got him some spots on Adult Swim if I am remembering my weird youtubes right. Good for him.

Is it just me that don't cares about politics, stupid news, trump bla bla

Agree fully, this isn't the place to debate your worth and try to prove yourself right and convert people to your side of the argument. This is an internet backwater and everyone is stuck deeply to their own opinion.

serious racial discussions

it is simultaneously enlightening regarding views on race in other countries, and idiotic dogwhistle racism / alt right tumblr facebook memes. It is a good thread and I enjoy reading and posting in it.

That triskelion ouroboros is perfect for a clan whose name contains "truimvirate"

change the pink if you dislike the color but that symbol is classy and highly relevant

the holy herb, the drink, and the sniffle snow; the 3 things required on a nice relaxing weekend.

for me it's the drink, the Malaysian tree dirt, and the caffeine bean*

*coffee is actually a seed, not a bean

Wouldn't that just be incredibly inefficient?

yes but that makes it even more badass

General Discussion / Re: What got you into crpg?
« on: July 11, 2018, 04:10:06 PM »
My brother showed me Warband in 2010? I think, and as soon as I saw the massive multiplayer battles where every single fighter was an individual player I was hooked.

In 2011 he showed me crpg, we would play together sometimes. He stopped later that year, I quit for a while when he did but then I came back because no other game scratched that itch for me. Not even native warband was as good anymore after playing crpg. The character progression and being able to spot a player across the battlefield and know it was them because of their trademark set of gear... Working your way up from being a peasant cowering behind a wall near a combat god, becoming a shitty bamboo spearman to try and poke and help out the guy in plate, finally buying my first horse (rouncey) and a light lance after what felt like weeks and weeks. Managing to get kills sometimes even though I didn't know how to couch the lance or what couching even was.

After that I played an archer and then an xbower, I had played for an embarassing extremely long time before I actually got good at melee combat with 4D weapons. 5 or 6 generations as a ranged player, and then I loomed a knife instead of a real 1h weapon because I wanted a sidearm to go with my +3 xbow and +3 bolts. It was a long time before I did anything other than wiggle and spin in melee combat.

General Discussion / Re: About time for a map rotation
« on: July 08, 2018, 12:04:58 AM »
Yes, the two desert islands with a bridge was great. If I remember right, the map name is Chasm. The other one is probably ambush_on_a_caravan, something like that.

There's one ATS map that works really well with lower server population. it's something like ATS_city_revolt or something like that. The map is one street filled with barricades, and there's a side path through an underground sewer. It's compact with a unique layout so it doesn't feel like another small village map from native. I wish there was an easy to navigate database of maps with screenshots for all of them, so players could vote on what they want.

It's very late into crpg's life to consider such a project, but we really do need a change of maps. There's too many on the current rotation that are meant for 30v30 or more and they are way too big. Some of the current maps are good, but it could use another pass by a developer or balancer or something.

What is up with Asian takeout/restaurants using their kids a servers and cashiers? Just went to a place the other day where my waitress was like 8, and her older sister served our food from the kitchen. I tipped extra in the hopes that some of it would go to their allowance  :|

Fresh Off The Boat had that detail as well, is that a common thing for Asian immigrants? I usually tip heavily anyway (unless service is bad and lazy) because I have worked front and back of house in restaurants for years and know their pain. On one hand that is probably illegal, but when the owner and cooks put forth a good effort and have their kids working as well, I feel that it instills a good work ethic. I would not have been mad if that was part of my childhood to be honest.

I did civil service clerk work from my teens into my mid 20s, and even with no other work experience I was appalled by my coworkers' lackadaisical attitude. I've worked years in the restaurant industry both front and back of house, and keeping your job/raising your wage depends entirely on your actual literal customer service. I tried corporate retail and hated it, you are mandated to provide poor customer service in the name of company profit. I hated it. Working a customer service job where your main initiative is to provide good customer service is actually rewarding, and when you get tipped extra for it that's just icing on the cake. I honestly enjoy making a customer's day, going out of my way to ensure they have a good time. If I go out to eat somewhere and get that same feeling, with honesty, from the employees, I drop a fat tip. Being a server really requires a lot of observation/mind games; not to fuck over the customer, but to try and read what they want before they say it. When you can do that, you provide seamless service and make an okay night out great. There aren't a lot of service industry jobs out there that are still like that, but restaurants thrive on honest good customer service. Making other people happy means you get more money, and ensures your future pay from return customers. It's a positive feedback loop.

wow that got off topic, but as far as racist things go do you guys have Asian takeout and restaurants where the owners have their kids running part of the service? Is that a specifically American thing?

It's a good story. His name was Orban, ironically enough.

Quote
On the day when cannon are to be cast, the masters, foremen and founders, together with the Grand Master of the Artillery, the Chief Overseer, Imam, Muezzin and timekeeper, all assemble and to the cries of “Allah! Allah!,” the wood is thrown into the furnace. After these have been heated doe twenty-four hours, the founders and stokers strip naked, wearing nothing but their slippers, an odd kind of cap which leaves nothing but their eyes visible, and thick sleeves to protect his arms; for, after the fire has been alight in the furnaces twenty-four hours, no person can approach on account of the heat, save he be attired in the above manner. Whoever wishes to see a good picture of the fires of hell should witness this sight.

that is super fucking cool, thanks for the link

Quote
the Ottomans likely acquired bronze bells from Christian churches to be melted and remolded into cannons.

the Vezirs, the Mufti and Sheiks are summoned; only forty persons, besides the personnel of the foundry, are admitted all told. The rest of the attendants are shut out, because the [tin], when infusion, will not suffer to be looked at by evil eyes. Thereupon the master-workmen with wooden shovels throw several hundredweight of tin into the sea of molten brass, and the head-founder says to the Grand Vizier, Vezirs and Sheiks: “Throw some gold and silver coins into the brazen sea as alms, in the name of the True Faith!” Poles as long as the yard of ships are used for mixing the gold and silver with the metal and are replaced as fast as consumed... in three months a terrible and unprecedented monster was constructed and cast.”

badass

holy shit he built a cannon that had a muzzle almost 1 meter wide. That's far larger than any modern era naval cannons. I know, I know, it's a literal cannon and not a giant rifled barrel firing shells, but holy shit that is some incredible brute force. I can't even imagine the sound of one being fired.

You guys don't use a dust/grime layer on top of everything by default? Is that why there are a bunch of banners that are like neon pink and 000000 hex black with visible pixels? Even if your banner is un-historical with modern/fantasy colors and themes you can at least color it so that it matches some in-game armor sets.

You gaudy ass fuckers.

I only buy liquor a couple times a year, for holidays. If there is liquor just sitting around my house it vanishes at an amazing rate. Beer is pretty much self-limiting for me, I get full/tired of drinking beer at somewhere around 6-8 drinks (12oz of regular beer each).

Only buying it a few times a year also means that I can go for the top shelf stuff and swing my bougie dick around hey look everyone look what i drink it's fancy!!
