Working is gay and even Russel knew it in 1932

Are you ready for the coming revolution when AI and robots will do the vast majority of work? Have you reconciled yourself with the fact that there is no nobility in "work" whatsoever, that the supposed nobility is merely a ruse to keep the slaves toiling away happily? And what a great success of brainwashing this particular ruse has been! Parents tell their children that there is nothing more important than a Job, and anyone not Working is a lazy scoundrel. How the elite must've laughed when they first witnessed this phenomenon. Slaves keeping slaves in check! A self-sustaining system; brilliant, really.

Despite long hours and everyone working having been unnecessary for well over a hundred years, the fantasy will soon become entirely untenable, with the advent of yet more technologies; the advancement of AI and robotics. Soon vast swathes of humanity will be forced to not work, for there will simply be way to dream up new useless jobs for all of them, as was previously the case after the agricultural revolution. Serendipitous, then, that the entertainment systems evolve at roughly as fast a rate. In history, epidemic unemployment has generally led to war; but in modern times, if the elites are wise enough to introduce UBI early enough, there'll be no earthly reason why anything should go awry. In entertainment, VR systems will bring forth a revolution as large as AI and robotics elsewhere. No doubt in twenty, fifty years' time we would have many people unwilling to work simply because they have no desire to leave their VR.

Good thing they won't have to.

Without work there would be no robots. There would be no humans.

Think you meant to say that slaving is lame.

Ive been working my hole life on not working.  If thats even a thing :D

Yes, I know from whence I came! Discontented as a flame, Upon myself I live and glow. All I grasp like lightning flashes, All I leave behind is ashes
Flame I am - that much I know!

Of course, everybody does exactly that. Work when able to be able to not work when unable.

People will just make stupid shit and sell it on Etsy. We'll have a whole lower class economy built on selling eachother stupid handmade knick knacks. They'll become status symbols.

I don't know which one is worse, the current world where we kill ourselves at work, or that upcoming world where we (or the future generations) will be more or less larvae. I genuinely wonder how a world without work will turn out, since we need to work to accomplish something by ourselves, and more simply, we need cash to live. Even the top-tier jobs in research will be progressively replaced when you think about it, it'll just go wrong at some point.

Isn't it already the case to some extent ?

No, we don't. Cash is artificial. And sooner or later there'll be universal basic income (UBI) in every first world country.

I'd be fine with being a (an?) larvae (larva?)
