@asheram the reason behind the long dane axe nerf is because it had the same damage, same speed, but 10 more length than the celtic while being cheaper as a weapon. Now its a middle ground between the bearded and the celtic. If you compared its old stats to the celtic it had +2 damage, same speed, and +2 reach, comparred to the great bardiche it had same damage, +3 speed, for only 6 less reach. Now its not obviously the best axe choice but still a good choice
Do players on EU use it? I have never seen anyone on NA use it besides schoi and myself. Did it get nerfed because a bad player like me got lucky with it at times? The only other time I seen it used was in a strat battle where I realised it was similar to native nords long great axe in 2h mode and thats why I loomed it. If the LGA here had a 2h mode I would have loomed it instead.

I don't believe we nerf things based on peoples usage, its more on if its a stat outlier in an obvious way that invalidates any other weapon choice. Before hand the dane axe was clearly the best 2h axe and you were fairly foolish for using anything else. Now it has pros and cons and there is a choice that can be made without just clearly picking an inferior option. Same logic why the ashwood was nerfed, there was no reason to use any other polearm for hoplite because it was just clearly the best pick

Why the nerf on headshots though ? Besides, what's that other headshot thing mentioned ?

Headshot and body limb damage was buffed some months ago. There was some discussion on ranged damage and they did some tests and saw that it's a little higher than expected.

The ranged multiplier stacks with native's multiplier giving a huge bonus. Back in the day, there was no extra multiplier, and around 2012, another 1.1x multiplier was added. Let's just say that it was toned down slightly, but the multiplier is still well above 1.1x (stacking with native's 2x or 2.25x, forget which). Overall, it's toning down an earlier buff.

Some months ago too, body limb multipliers were increased ~15-25% since ranged saw nerfed damage when they hit certain parts of the body.

It's still a work in progress to get the right sweetspot for ranged damage since so many factors affect it.

Thanks San for telling me to get a shield in 2018. Jokes aside, the headshot nerf is much needed. Getting 1 shotted in the first minute is a guarenteed "I aint got time for this shit" moment for me

Haven't tried the patch yet but appreciate the efforts

lol, but just wanted to point it out since it got super buffed and is a particularly useful item for hardly any cost right now. Definitely won't kill ranged for you, but could ease things a bit.

I don't know if the headshot nerf was in effect, but I tried the following a couple of days ago in a strat siege :

- target was 65hp, no helmet, 15m
- I had a short bow (+0) as well as regular arrows (+5c)

The target survived, and needed two more arrows in his 25 ish body armor. Please tell me how, and more importantly, why a nerf on headshots ? It won't affect STR-based archers much, since they are not precise enough for constant, chain headshots, and mostly aim for the body, but it'll be a straight damage nerf for the builds (and bows) who need to score headshots to be effective. That's a bit counter-productive, isn't it ?
